Those that wish to come along should meet up at Harbor Marine at 1500 hours.....The walk through should not take that long at all. It will be a chance for a few of us to visualize how
the process will go. 300 folks to get through registration is a large job, at least in my way of thinking. ..........

I picked up 5 signed copies of John's books today. He said he would donate up to 6 Pink Salmon shirts for the ladies working the event, but he wanted to know the sizes. He said he doesn't want to donate shirts that wouldn't be used.

Bump...

Looks like the reports of pinks in the straits and even closer in are looking up. Could be awesome for the timing of this event. Really looking forward to this.

 :yeah:

Gonna be a ton of fun, and should be hot fishing too.

Hi all,
As I mentioned in my first post, I have not been all that successful at salmon fishing and want to do my best to help these soldiers catch some fish.  With that, I am going to be spending next week at Discovery Bay and hope to get out and get some good practice in  :)

Any advice on where to go or what to try?  I have family flying in from NM and would love to show them what a real fish looks like!   :chuckle:
We will be heading to the San Juans for a day or two of this trip and might even drop some crab pots  :dunno:

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!
Brian

Spent the weekend @ discovery a couple weeks ago, dropped pots out side of Trend West in 75ft of water and had limits in 3 hours of soak. As for fishing we hit NW side of Eastern Bank and picked up one 10lb King. Fished Hein Bank last Saturday and in 30 minutes we had 1 Sockeye, 2 Coho and 1 King in the boat and 3 others we lost. Never put our gear below 75ft and did not need to go to water deeper than 85 ft. Hope this helps and enjoy the weekend.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet you all on Friday. I came down with a throat infection and had to go to the Dr. I have the shirts and the books so let me know if you want me to hang on to them or If you would like me to get them to you before the event.

Got some reports of a few pinks that have been caught out in area 9. I'm predicting a full swing run during the event.

Sorry you came down with the crud!  :sry:  Get better soon!   If you can bring the books and shirts down to the Guest Dock on Friday the 9th, that would be wonderful.  Give me a shout on my phone that Friday to let me know.

For all of you that fish the south sound (sigh....) we were out on a scouting mission yesterday. Released a small silver and small pink. With that said, I think that it will be absolutely Hammer Time (Rob Endsleys words) during our Salmon for Soldiers event in the North Sound!

The crabbing was so-so north of Browns Point in 130 feet of water.

Yes the reports are more and more pinks everyday. It should be lights out by the 10th of August. I'm going to give it a shot Thursday after work. I'll post up a report.
