went out yesterday after work.found a nice spot n tucked in and started calling with my new box call.had a turkey come in to 158 yards and hang up for a bit n then run off,n had one hang up in the trees.it was awesome to see it work a little
what call do you guys use to bring them in closer?i cant afford a decoy till next week.
i believe it was the cut that brought em in but i am new to all this and was using everything i know.

this turkey huntin is brand new to me,and they are driving me nuts.
i was using the yelp also shortly before i saw em,so that leads me to believe thats what was bringin em in.

Once they hear you put the call away and just wait, and don't move.
They have an amazing ability to locate exactly where that sound came from.

Most turkie callers over call something fierce. Also tone back your volume.

heck ya.thanks guys.i went out to ford to hunt today n didnt find squat.got home n had turkeys in my back yard.they roosted not too far away.i think tomorrow morning will be a good morning

The fact that you know it was 158 yards should tell you why.  He came close enough to see her and she wasn't there.. End of story!

I would say because he was moving around too much.

was your hands visable?  Were they gloved?  ungloved hands working a box call are like flags.

Get in some thicker stuff as mentioned, and be sure to use a facemask and gloves as the next post said.

it very well could have been my hands.i cant shoot my bow worth a crap with gloves.i used camo paint on em today n put the turks to roost back behind my house.ill be painted up in the am n will have my tags on a nice tom bright and early if i dont screw it up

Try just cutting the finger off a chep brown cotton glove, should work fine.

i have some super light camo net gloves.its the band on my wrist that screws stuff up.
i went out this am and those turkeys went the wrong way from their roost.then i went to another permission i have n found a tom struttin but got busted again.
this turkey huntin is really starting to frustrate me.but i am enjoyin time in the woods.

If you are not frustrated, you're not turkey hunting.  Saw your post this morning and hoped there'd be a pic attached.

Target shoot with your glove, you may have to adjust the tightness so your draw length stays the same with the glove.  Otherwise, just roll the cuff forward and put it on as usual.

Gloves shouldn't affect your ability to shoot.  If it does, you have some issues with mechanics/grip.
