Right now the plan is to try and locate the bugger again. If that happens I am prepared to sit on him and wait him out all day. If he hits the ground I will take a few pics as best I can, gut him out and prop the cavity open. I will then head back into town and make calls, maybe have someone post. Outfitter told me to call him as well for help but he has guys in camp and is busy enough. Nothing is written in stone at this point, I have to find him first.

Don't worry, he'll need mules where that thing is at.  Nobody is going to pack a moose out 5 miles.  You guys will figure out the pictures.  Just don't get him in the shade and have a sunny background...  All sun or all shade.  Low angles.  If you don't have a tripod screw the plastic nock of an arrow in the tripod thread and stick the arrow in the ground or have a buddy take the picture.  You know the gig.

I have a tripod but will be packing lite until I get him, with bikes it will be a quick trip back to grab stuff.

I must admit its not going to be the same without you guys there, I really would like you there to join in the fun. I figure if nobody else goes, I leave my camera, knives, game bags etc. in the car, I will find him :dunno: It will be just my luck.

Oh ya, you have been in there, "all sun" is out of the question :chuckle:

Try hunting them like you do turkeys....Call every patch of timber to get one to step out.  ;)
Seams like all the deer hunters were seeing moose and not deer. but you can put on a lot of miles running everywhere they say they saw one and the moose won't be there then but a mile away or something. :yike: Just hunt from day light to dark...you'll find the one of your dreams!
There's a football coach in Usk that get's his whole football team out there looking for guys, I think for a price :twocents:.

update

I ran into the hunters of the "big Ba$+ard!!!!! "  they told me that the 9 miles one way and not getting a shot at the beast was wearing them out.  I can believe it.  I just happened to be in a little store near elk to highway rd and hwy 2.  in walks two guys looking like they just came from the far side of hell but with a smile on there faces.  i thought they had the same luck with there seer season that i did.  we talked in line for a while and found out it was the crew that had gotten chased by a moose.  what a crazy place to meet?
anyway they were great to talk to and asked if i could give a update.  They have a monster in there sights and have him located but getting to him is the problem.  i think some on said 9sq miles of territory.  that is a large area to track and call in a beast that is worth the effort they are putting out.  I will be back in new port this weekend after a whitetail so maybe i will bump into them again.  hopefully they will be long home by Thursday.  They did say there will be pics coming with there updates.
thanks for the conversation and the post so far.  I hope i have done you justice with this post.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU  BOYS!

Just got back a bit ago without the big boy in tow, It wasn't for a lack of effort!  I'll let Rob get into more of the detail but after 40 miles on the mountian bike seat (Thanks WF70 for the bike with the odometer) lets just say the rusty badge is polished! Total count: 2 bears 1 bobcat a 3x3 whitetail & lots of doe's ... 6 moose total with 3 more bulls passed (just not big enough) And of coarse fun! I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.
