B.C moose down!
« on: October 06, 2008, 10:51:06 AM »
My Grandpa and I went up to BC and hunted with Ambush Outfitters last week. We had a tuff start as the weather got hot on us and shut down the moose. We figured the bulls were hanging in the timber waiting on the cows to come in. Our guide was a 20 year old kid who did a absolute awesome job. He was able to call two moose basicly into our laps. He pulled out all the tricks and made it happen. I killed my moose Friday at 70 yards and my gramp's killed his Saturday at 30 yards. 1100lbs hanging between the two. This was a awesome hunt to be able to share with my grandpa. He is 81 and just keeps on going.

Way to go!!! I've hunted with Shane (Ambush Outfitters) for both moose and bears on several occasions. Three years for moose and three years for bears. We have NEVER came home empty handed!! Great outfit. Glad you and your Gramps did well!!

This turned out to be a awesome hunt. As you can see we are not "trophy hunting", but meat and memory hunting. This hunt will stay with me forever. I was shooting a .300 win mag and gramps was using his 30-06.

Great choice in cartridges. An old outfitter in Wyoming told me two of his favorite cartridges he liked to see in camp was the 300 win mag and the 30-06.
