young archer?

How young on average do you all start your young ones in archery?

My daughter will be shooting a bow as soon as she can pull a youth one back

My son started at 8, but would have gone earlier if I would have found a place sooner to shoot and get a bow.  He started recurve, PSE, and has gone through 3 bows.  He just bought his own Hoyt compound this past winter.  My youngest daughter started at 6 with a recurve. She is 10 now and has a Hoyt compound.  My middle daughter isn't interested, but she does shoot a recurve occasionally.  She started at 10.  I see a lot of guys on here with 3 and 4 year olds shooting.  Mine were not ready at that age.  It depends on their growth, your desire, their desire and frankly time.  How much time do you all have and where can you shoot...  My

both my kids started shooting at 3yrs old... My boy is now 10 and my daughter is 6..

At 3 there is very little shooting going on. Its mostly trying to build the muscles and show them how to do it safe. It takes LOTS of patience, and does not improve your shooting.  I started my girl at 3.

We started at about 3.  It was based on his desire to participate in what he saw Mom and Dad doing.  He is now 9 and has range safety thoroughly ingrained.

My son started when I made him save his money to buy a Diamond Razors Edge so he'd never have to buy another bow if he didn't want to.  Finally got there last spring at 10 years old

my daughter started at 2.  she's 5-almost 6 now and shoots a mini genesis.  my son is 2 but he's not at the same place, so he'll probably be 3 or 4 before he shoots.  started daughter with a Bear first shot stick bow.  she ended up being left handed and the little stick bows are ambidextrous.  Still a little early to tell with son, but he seems to be leaning that way, too.

Our girl just turned 3 so i was curious. Shes always wanting to do what im doing ha.  . . But i think i might wait until She is a little older when i can be sure she could pay a little better attention

It was tuff on the wife with the pregnancy when our daughter came out of the oven with a pink bow in hand with some arrows!

Started by boy at 2 1/2. Even though he couldnt pull the bow on his own i let him aim and now 2 years later he is addicted I have a target in garage set up so he can shoot rain or shine whenever he wishes!

I started about 9-10 years my uncle and cousin helped alot and they started shooting at a young age also younger then me

My daughter started at 8 with a cheapo compound that wasn't much more then a toy, she learned the basics on it but didn't seem overly interested in it, then this past fall her 6th grade P.E. class spent a couple weeks doing archery and she outshot everyone in her class and received a lot of praise by her teacher and came home wanting a real bow. I bought her a Bear Apprentice 2 and the day after I gave it to her she broke her foot, its killing her not to get out and shoot it, probably another week of an already 2 month recovery.

Got my first store-bow at 5 yrs old, made our own (3 older brothers) out of vine maple and shrub branches for arrows. Just finishing up 2 elm longbows for 2 of my 3 grandsons ages 5 and 7. Gonna buy 3 yr old a nerf bow.
