Glock 20sf malfunctions
« on: April 23, 2013, 09:31:26 PM »
Well I am having feeding issues with my new 10mm! I haven't put very many rounds through it yet and I bought it new. I shot a box of standard American eagle stuff with no issues, but every time I shoot either underwood ammo's 180grain xtp's or buffalo bores 220 hard cast it will feed several rounds no problem but fail to feed a round into the chamber randomly (at least once a clip, if not several per clip). It doesn't necessarily jamb but it will partially feed the round into the breach area and than stop, which will hold the slide partially open, causing me to have to pull the slide back and let it go to continue shooting :bash:

Now I know everyone puts after market barrels and springs in these guns to shoot the heavy stuff, which I plan on doing ASAP, but I thought these upgrades were to extend the life of these components not for reliability....

Has anyone had this happen? Or have an idea what the culprit may be?

Thanks in advance!!!
H&F

Don't take this wrong but mine hates being limpwristed. I put a 22lb wolf spring in mine also.

I JUST went through this. My gun shot killer with the lighter stuff and had heaps of ftf with 200's at 1325. I had the light trigger springs and connector in. I fought with seating depth, throat issue......in rhe end, it was the springs. I moved to stock trigger springs and a 22# recoil......voila. do measure the col. They don't like being even a bit long.

Trigger spring should have no bearing on how the Glock functions in terms of cycling properly.  If it is not feeding correctly you should first look at the recoil spring and also the magazines.  Is it doing this with the same magazine, or do you have others that do it also?

It might also be the stock feed ramp not liking the hard cast ammo.

Are you shooting with a proper two handed grip?

Thanks for the replies! I figured this was the issue as well just wanted some confirmation with others that may have had the problem. Wolff #22 spring and guide rod ordered!

Button Nubbs- No offense taken, but definitely not a limp wrist problem, I actually think the gun is a *censored* cat with high power rounds. Of course I also shoot a 329pd with full power loads, it does put things in perspective :chuckle:

Any other advice on fine tuning this pistol is welcome, and I will update this thread when I get the parts and install them. I think I will order a storm lake barrel while I am at it, boy does that Glock barrel collect the lead from those hard cast rounds....

Thanks,
H&F

You do know you're not supposed to shoot lead rounds in Glock barrels?

Limp wristing typically manifests itself as stovepipes.

Yep..good purchase..that was all you needed and you should have no problems.. it isn't set up stock for the heavier rounds.
