He made another installment in what we as a nation pay for freedom for peoples around the globe.
Rest in peace bro.
May God help ease the ache in the hearts of his family & friends.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

‘Colockumelk’ is coming home

When he saddled up to deploy to Afghanistan, former Selah resident Aaron Blanchard, known to his many friends on the Hunting-Washington forum as “Colockumelk,” posted a note on April 11 that noted, “Well it’s my turn once again to head over to the sand box and do the job that the tax payers pay me to do.”

Wow! Nicely written Dave...... Reading it to my family, I had a hard time getting through that.....

It's okay. Understood.  I had a hard time writing it.....same reason.

Nicely done Dave.  A fitting tribute to a man who put his energies into the things he believed in for his entire time on earth.  A life well lived.  We'll miss you Aaron.  See you on the other side.

Dave, I've linked your article several times around the internet as an introduction to Aaron's passing and the fundraising efforts here for his family. Hope you don't mind? It's a perfect medium to do that, you did a super job on it!

Finally have words to say for this tragedy! Another good and strong man cut down in his prime , leaving behind a loving wife and two young souls without a dad now :( ..  Colockumelk and I didn't always see eye to eye on some issues but before he left to make the ultimate sacrifice he went out of his way to make it right with me. And I salute him for what he stood for and for the Colockum herd for where his heart was. My first elk was from  the Colockum and I know he also recognized how special that place was. He was a brother in arms! May his spirit always run with the Colockum herd. Long live the Colockum elk.

Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

Not at all.

Publicizing this is the least I could do for one of the "family."  I went back over some of the posts I traded with him on different forum subjects over the past few years.

We didn't always agree, but we both seemed to understand one another.  Where we did agree was on piss-poor management and I had 30 years on him to see what the "good old days" were like, and I knew...and I think he did, too....that we CAN have those things again.

He did good. That's all we can ask of any of us.
