RRA NM upper aggravation..
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:29:29 PM »
So I bought a Rock River National Match A-4 upper half. Comes with stainless match 1:8 barrel, free float tube under the handguards, NM 1/4 minute sights... fairly heavy upper, and not cheap, but would allow me to be competitive in High Power (although if you're going to use an AR we should call it Low-power) matches.. So now the problem.. I get the lower in and with the rear sight centered it hits about 10" left at 50yds... with the rear sight all the way to the right it is still hits about 4" left. I called Rock River, and they were good, had a UPS man on my front step the next day with a shipping label, But yesterday I got it back. Fire it today, and it hits to the same place as before.. the warranty paper from RRA says they "reindexed the barrel", whatever that means. Any Ideas? and yes I did have someone else fire it, and he hit the same point of impact as I did..

It sounds to me like it's more the fault of the receiver being off.  RRA is one of the best AR manufacturers, but even they have a lemon once in a while.  I'd send it back again and tell them it's not fixed.  :twocents:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Yeah, RRA is a good company to deal with.  Sounds to me like the barrel is off, or there is a problem with the front or rear sight, like one of them might be bent or tweaked.  Call them, tell them its not right... The will make it right for you.

ok, so i sent the rifle back, and when it came back, although the slip with it said they "reindexed" the barrel, and test fired it, it was still 10" left or so at 50yds, (same place as before), with the rear sight centered.. so I sent it back a second time. it came back the other day, and I fired it today.. and it hits within an inch of centered at 50yds. Dont know if it will meet the claimed 3/4 min at 100, but it will put 3rds in an inch at 50yds with iron. kudos to Rock River that they didnt give me any guff either time I sent it back, and both times UPS picked it up at my door with a shipping label, and it didnt cost me a dime.. now if i could find .223 ammo to shoot it on a regular basis..

Glad to hear it.
RRA doesn't put out many lemons....sounds like yours needed tweeking and they made it right.
RRA is a heck of a company.
Wish I'd bought their 1911 a few years back for a matching stable.
