RIP Possum....
«

Not as close to home as hearing that Colockumelk was killed fighting for our freedom. But my wife just texted me and told me that country music legend George Jones passed away this morning. Have to say that I was not a country fan when I was real young, but about age 13 I heard him sing "He stopped loving her today" and finally understood a country song and from then on I was a fan. He was well known as the Possum and also as No-show Jones for getting drunk in his bus and and not showing up at his concerts. My wife bought me tickets to his concert last time he was in Spokane. We were sitting next to a couple about my parents age when the gentleman asked my wife if she'd ever seen George in concert. She said no and then asked if he had ever seen him in concert. I will never forget that gentlemans reply. He said, "Darlin, I've been to 5 George Jones concerts, and if he walks out on stage tonight, it will be the second time I've seen him!" RIP Possum, hope you and Tammy Wynette are riding on a tractor, drinking a beer and headed to a *censored*-tonk. God bless.

I don't know which one of his is my favorite. He has some really good music. But "He stopped loving her today" is a good one for today. RIP.

One of the best! I still listen to him and all the good ole boys on the daily. His music will be with us always. I'm still waiting for some new country singers to come along that sing with the transparenty and soul like the Johnny cash, Waylon Jennings, Merrle Haggard and George Jones' once did. I have a feeling I will be waiting for some time. RIP possum

I don't like country, but his music went down easy. One of my favorites:
George Jones She Thinks I still Care
