Tagged out
« on: April 30, 2013, 12:20:01 AM »
Me and one buddy tagged out this morning after 4 days of really tough hunting. We must have worked some 30 gobblers, about half of those lone gobblers. Hunting the morning roost was tough. Everything was henned up and the hens always headed a different direction than towards us in the morning. The birds with hens literally didnt make a peep all day once they hit the ground. The lone gobblers we got on just wouldnt commit!!  :bash: Everything from birds goin silent, headed away from the call but still hammering away, hung up, found hens before reaching us and even accidently spooking one hot bird headed our way. Even had 2 hunts ruined by some roadhunters and then a coyote runnin through. Finally came through this morning at 7 and 10 am to seal the deal.  :IBCOOL: Now I am hoping to work with my youth hunters again and possibly take out another rookie hunter who wants to go. Also hoping to go chase some Easterns for a few days even if its just more of a scouting trip while I learn the ropes on huntin them ghosts. Still lots to look forward to this season!!!

Congrats --- definitely turkey hunting at it finest, but getting the job done anyway.  Never easy which makes the reward even greater.  Again Congrats !!!

It's nice to hear about a lot of toms.  The "almost's" make success even better.  Thanks for sharing.
