pics of sow and young triplets
« on: April 30, 2013, 05:50:10 PM »
This Spring bear season has been a blast so far.

I have found several sheds while hiking and have posted some in the shed section of the forum.

I also have picked up a sow that had a cub with her climbing a tree on my video cam and posted them in the trail cam section of the forum.

I also have met some great people out in the woods including members from this site, that is always fun.

Today while I was out I ran into this sow that had three small cubs with her feeding on grasses in a swamp. When she realized that I was watching her, she moved those cubs out of there pretty fast. I am sure that she is very busy keeping these little guys safe and alive out there. It really made my day when I was able to snap off these pictures. I am sure that it took a nice boar to sire those cubs and I really would like to introduce myself to him!

That's awesome! I don't believe triplets are too common.

It almost looks like there is another bear in the background of that first pic. Nice pics! I hope there isn't a boar around, you know he'll kill all those cubs. Good luck on your hunt, hopefully you kill him before he finds those little guys.

Nice job Woodman!  Getting photos like that certainly speaks to your stealth while hunting.

Cool...those little ones are neat. Had a sow with cubs last year on cam....the little ones really roughed up my plastic flamingos.

Triplets are extremely rare for black bears so quite a find.  Really hard to get all 3 little guys in one picture though isn't it!  :)

I've seen black bears with triplets only twice.  They sure are a ton of fun to watch!!!

Thanks for sharing all the pics woodman and shane. I've never seen triplets myself, that is quite the treat!

Cool pictures!  My brother and I saw a huge sow with triplets a couple years ago over in the Huckleberry.  Was pretty neat to see.  What is the survival rate of triplets?  Would imagine that one of them probably struggles a bit as the runt  :dunno:

This is a minute movie of a sow with three cubs. Maybe someone more computer smart can get it copied here.
