Put mine in for fun but doesn't hold a candle to the others. Especially the one from Jason and slim!! Awesome bulls guys!!

It sure does!!! It shows the hard work that goes into a elk hunt, it also catches you in the moment. It's not staged like the others, you got my vote.

I think we all have pictures of the "hard work" and struggles. I just got lucky that my partner cared enough to take random pictures this year even if they were only with an iPhone. Here are our images of "hard work," even if they didn't quite make the 'cut.' I hope they are 'real' enough for you.

They make the cut.  Those are the pics that look the best.  Not to many guys find themselves on a ridge top at sunset while packing out a bull, that's what I meant by staged.

To me elk hunting means Freedom!  Freedom to roam with no boundaries!  Freedom to leave the civilized world behind us!  Freedom to provide for our families how we see fit!  Above all else, elk hunting IS a freedom we have because of brave men and women who lay it all on the line so we have the FREEDOM to pursue what we love and that is to hunt elk.  Keep the wind in your face and go slow Capt Aaron Blanchard.

In today's world, BLRman has it right.  Colockumelk loved hunting and had a passion for it too.  I can't pass his intensity for hunting either.

I realized what you were implying but that ridge top was still over 4 miles from the truck/trailhead, and basecamp was back the opposite direction. Our goal was to get the meat to the top before dark and come back in the morning to get it out to the butcher. So that's what we did. But when we were standing up there admiring the smoky sunset, thankfully my partner got the idea to pull out my phone from his pocket again for a picture and I will forever be grateful for.

If you want to read the 'story' from the beginning you are welcome to.

Isn't that the truth. BLR, words can't describe what I want to tell you regarding your brother. I have tried to post my sympathies in other threads but I always end up deleting my posts because they don't sound 'right.'

Your brother is a stud and he will be missed by the world. I only knew him by his posts (and our resulting discussion) but oddly I felt connected to him somehow. I encourage you to carry on his legacy and take him with you on your future elk hunting adventures (as I'm sure you plan to). RIP Aaron.

You sir have my sincere condolences.

In this case a whole lot of good eating, but in all reality the pursuit of the unknown. The not knowing what's going to happen next making you put the extra effort into finding out. The beautiful scenery that comes from every hill top that you crest. And spending time with family and friends. As well as making new friends. It's a vacation like no other.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

Awesome Muzzy bull , congrats . Did you have a write up on here about the hunt or any other pics in a post??
yeah did a write up a wile back under "2010 muzzleloader bull" it was a great hunt, got him on the 7th day at 46 yards. Seen 2 other bulls that were bigger but couldn't make it happen. Here is another pic.

I really like Slim's pictures, wish I would have got some of the pack out.

My sunset picture wasn't staged either.  I had been packing the head for the last 3 miles, I just got done making a hard pull up a mountain  and was almost back to spike camp.  I was resting and my hunting partner recognized it would be a great picture.  I wish you could see the sweat pouring off of me.
