Round 2 Turkey Hunting
«
on:
May 03, 2013, 09:13:43 AM »
Getting ready to head out the door. This is going to be round 2 for the season. Needless to say the turkeys are winning. I have learned a great deal from all you experienced turkey hunters. If everything works out and I do everything that I have learned from you guys, hopefully I will be able to post a pic Saturday or Sunday. If not hey a day in the woods is better than a day at work of doing honey do projects.

Well round 2 goes to the turkeys. I have to say this has been the best time hunting I have had in a long time. Friday night was good, called turkeys in but no shot. Saturday called turkeys in no shot too many hens. How ever Sunday was freakin awesome. Started calling around 0500. Had turkeys coming in from the left, right and infront. There was a very big Tom about 25-30 hards out and was getting a little spooked. So took the shot and blam I freaking missed him. The the entire world erupted with turkeys flying everywhere. It was a great trip. I have to say a very big thank you to Jim aka Bigbeamhunter. He was a great help to getting me right on the birds. I won't ever forget this day.

Hey chief glad you guys had fun so when you put your head on your pillow and closed your eyes did ya hear turkeys.
Also it's not always about the killing.
I think that I think more about the ones that got away or out smarted me whether its turkeys or a big screaming bull it's what drives me to do better
Again I'm glad you guys had fun and got some action and I know you hear this a lot thank you guys for your service as you know my sons Is The navy also so it makes me feel good to give something back to you guys

It is what makes turkey hunting fun. Just when you think the stars align then something happens that you didn't expect.
I really hope to get out again before the skunk gets the better of me this spring.
