They also report that powerful Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte of Virginia has had “. . . a lot of discussions with Speaker John Boehner on guns.”

Less than 24 hours after the United States Senate voted on a series of anti-gun amendments, Speaker Boehner announced the House would also “look at [gun violence]!”
Items the House will “look at” include two of the absolute WORST of President Obama’s top priorities -- all veiled under the friendly guise of “bipartisanship” -- including:
*** The Toomey-Manchin “Background Check” (NATIONAL GUN REGISTRATION) Bill. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is working feverishly to round up the Senate votes he needs and he can bring up this bill in the Senate at virtually any time.
Now, Peter King (R-NY) has introduced similar legislation in the House. And Pat Toomey stated, “I know there are a substantial number of House Republicans that are supportive of this general approach;”
*** Anti-Gun “Trafficking” ATF Witch Hunt Legislation, which is designed to unleash an ATF reign of terror where Second Amendment supporters are nailed to the wall for making simple mistakes.
The only way gun owners will be able to prove their innocence is if the federal government signs off on every firearm transfer with a national gun registry.
Things are very fluid, but the ATF Witch Hunt Bill I mentioned is perhaps the greatest threat at this point.
Under this bill, just buying a shotgun for a son returning home from Afghanistan so you can spend some time in the woods hunting like the old days, could be enough to land you in jail for 20 years -- should he happen to fall under Attorney General Eric Holder’s changing definition of a “prohibited person.”
And under ATF Witch Hunt legislation, it doesn’t matter if you know whether someone is a “prohibited person” or not -- you’re going to prison either way.
It could hardly work out more perfectly for the gun-grabbers.
President Obama only needs two more votes to RAM this bill through the Senate -- and after the first Senate vote, he knows exactly who he needs to pressure.
In the House, Republican Scott Rigell of Virginia has introduced ATF Witch Hunt legislation with Democrat Carolyn Maloney of New York, giving President Obama the bipartisan gun-grab he’s craving.
Worse for you and me, Speaker Boehner passed three bills through the U.S. House against the will of a majority of Republicans already this year -- something that’s long been a no-no for Republican Speakers.
Boehner just counted on Nancy Pelosi to round up the Democrat votes he needed to pass President Obama’s statist schemes.
Now, Speaker Boehner is REFUSING to say he won’t do so again when it comes to grabbing our Second Amendment rights -- even before President Obama launches yet another round of “dinner diplomacy” where he wines and dines Members of Congress into voting his way!
Should he choose to, Speaker Boehner could single-handedly kill any gun bill he wants by simply refusing to allow it to come to the floor.
