Bear Comparison Pics
« on: May 03, 2013, 04:32:55 PM »
Is this a mature boar?

I'm not great at judging pictures and I know he's hardly in the frame.  I was looking at the forearms, ears etc. trying to judge.

There are three bears coming into this camera regularly.  He seems to be the only decent one.

In your opinion, is this a mature boar?  Unit 101, elevation 3,400

Very good bear in my opinion. He might be bigger than he looks from the size of his hips.

You mean the second one might not be as little as I figured?

I thought the second one was around 100 lbs.

Thanks for the  :twocents:

2nd one looks like a 60#er. I bet it's still with the sow, or an orphan. :twocents:  I would shoot the 1st one that looks near 200#. I'm not a great judge either.

Next time I check the camera, I'll do a better job of inspecting the area and I'll put up a measure stick because now I'm extra curious.

1st one is plenty big. Could be about 280# give or take 20#.
Second one is probably 40# max.

If that little one is really only 40# then I think I'd have to pass  :chuckle:

To this point though, all bears have been shooters but I've never seen a tiny one in person.
