special permitts
« on: May 04, 2013, 11:46:10 PM »
So i have purchased my special permitts and have already applied for my hunt choices. i was wondering if there is anyway to change your hunt choices after you have applied. i just found out i am going to Hawaii for 10 days the first week of Nov. a couple of the permitts i put in for are during that time frame. i know i probably won't get drawn but there is always the chance. and i would hate to draw lose my points and not be able to hunt

Not much you can do now except hope you don't draw

That's why I never schedule non hunting vacations during hunting seasons.  I know that would be the time I get the dream tag.  Not sure if yours is a vacation or not but I would skip Hawaii for a good permit if that was the case.

Call the WDFW on Monday and plead your case. Good luck.

Yes they will change your applications for you. I had one of mine changed. Just be ready and have your WILD ID number, and the hunt choice numbers when you call.

The phone number to call is 360-902-2515.

It wasn't my plan. It is the better half's grandparents plan and I had no say in it.  They are thinking this might be the last time they will be able to take a flight that long.  And they also are paying for it so I don't think I can dump this vacation to go hunting.  I will call this week and try and get them changed.  Thanks

You shouldn't have a problem.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Bobcat is correct. Bobcat gave me the same # a few weeks ago. I changed mine in less than 5 minutes. Be prepared to have you hunt choice #'s avaliable. They will ask, which you want to delete and add.

I got around to it yesterday and it was very simple and easy process.  Thanks bobcat for the #.  And I might have to look into doing a pig hunt while I am in Hawaii as long as I can get away for a day

Just throwing it out there...
If anyone wants to do a pig hunt. There is a ranch in north eastern Oregon, about 50 miles east of Pendleton. It is called Bufford Springs Ranch. The owner is Shannon. Pig hunts are open year round and do not require a tag or hunting license. He charges around $330-$360 per person for a 5 day non-guided hunt. The more hunters you book, the better rate you get per person. Cabins are included in the rate, as well as camping areas if you want to bring your tent or trailer. Check him out on Facebook. He also offers a few deer and elk guided hunts, which fall under Oregon Fish and Game Regulations. Pig hunts do not.
