Anyone catch anything today?
« on: May 05, 2013, 05:04:18 PM »
Be it saltwater or freshwater fish? Lets see it or hear your stories!
It was absolutely gorgeous out today and decided to do some fishing while the lady was at her firearm's class.
Caught a few bows today out on the lake and Its got me all excited for this years fishing adventures.
Gonna be a good year.. With the humpy run on top of that. Ohhh boy.  :IBCOOL:

Got these guys prepped with some butter, onions, and a little Johneys seasoning. Just waiting for the BBQ to heat up  :chuckle:

My daughter is a natural, as usually she outfished us all.

I was out at Tanawax today for an hour or so. Couple of bites but I didnt catch any. It is kinda strange because I alway catch at least a couple of trout there this time of year. Thats why its called fishin. :chuckle:

For sure, I left because all the darn people in they're boats who like to hang out right above our fishing hole in like a 1/4 acre spot.
When its a 32 acre lake. That's pretty ridiculous. There was a few people exchanging foul words to say the least.
I couldn't sit down for 5 minutes without getting a nibble at one point, Had 2 fish on and landed in probably 10 minutes. The other about half hour later. Then nothing for about an hour (That's when the boats moved in) Then the fish just stopped biting, or ran to another spot in the lake.

Ya, I am cursed!!! I can pull up every ling that burns my reel and is 4 ft. long, but when it comes to a ling that is in the slot  :dunno: I have never caught a ling under the size limit. I guess I am immune to catching dinks  8) I couldn't even catch bait that was under 12"  :chuckle:

Whatever bites! (except rockfish in PS) Today flounder, but I like bullhead or some other sculpin because they are easy to keep alive and squirming

I took my boy out for some kokanee this weekend. Nailed 8 over 12" each day. He talked me into swinging into a bay  and trying for smallmouth even though we didn't have any bass vear with us. He has never fished for bass and he managed these 2 for his first! He even did it with an 5' ultralight rod and 4lb test!

Pics are screen shots from the videos I took.

not sure if anyone will be into this or not. When I still lived back east, we lived and breathed striper fishing on the Hudson River this  time of year. My buddy sent a pic of what he caught today....

Took the wife and boys out for an evening on the lake. In the two hours we were there, we caught 7-8 rainbows. Mostly trolling with Rapalas, Flat Fish and Phoebe(sp?). All small fish. Sorry no pictures.

Sad story. 55 year old man passed away today at the lake (spanaway lake) I was fishing at all day. Slipped out of his life jacket and theyre still to this moment searching for him. Sad sad day. Rip sir, as to Im sure I layed my eyes on you today while at the boat launch.

We went shrimping on Sat and got 282. We had 4 licenses fishing and came up 38 short of limiting the boat. Fun day.

Had a good day on the water Saturday. Fished bass lake outside of Enumclaw for a few hours didn't catch anything, then went to deep lake and did great. Caught 10 fish trolling a flatfish in a little over a hour and a half. Thinking about heading to silver lake by Eatonville next weekend. Never fished it before so any pointers would be  greatly appreciated.

Henley's Resort? Lots lots of Lilly pads, I think the dock/boat launch fee was $5 on an honor system (drop it in a slot on the office door, we've never seen anyone in there lol). We've caught little stuff out there quite a bit, but have seen some whopper trout and bass taken while we were there. It's a fun little lake.

Fished lake stevens for kokanee Saturday, during the regatta. Boat launch was a zoo but we managed to get 9 between 3 of us. Not a dynamite day but it's starting to get better. Forgot to text you to bring those riggers for me to look at Mallard79, we'll have to hook up later this week maybe.

Took the gf's kids to bosworth on Sunday morning and caught a dozen or so stockers. Their first time fishing, and her daughter out fished the whole boat, and showed her big brother up. She even wanted to bait her own hook and hold her fish. He on the other hand wasn't having any of that.

Then went to lake stevens this morning and went 3 for 6 on kokanee. Had 3 in the boat before 7:30 am. Had to leave at 9:45 to come to work though. No pics since I was in a hurry. Hope to get out some more this week.

Don't forget, It holds catfish! and Some very nice sized German browns for how small that lake is. One guy while we were down there caught a what, 29 inch brown I think it was. This was last year.  Not even half of the fishes body would fit in the 5 gallon bucket he had. :chuckle:

Nice bass I caught. We've been on a lot of bass and trout so far.
Opener of trout four of us fishing had limits of two over 14 each and finished the rest of the limit with 13 plus inches. We had several up around 17 inches. Same with the next day. Don't ever bother taking pics of trout just because they don't interest me for pics much.

Hood canal by any chance? We've went clamming out there a few times and found 100's upon 100's of bodies minus the tails.
Dont even think shrimping was in season at the time either, so we were double wtf

Boy do those things look tastey, How hard are they to catch? How many shrimp pots do you use, how far apart, and what kind of bait do you use?

Three days at the Potholes and not one fish  :'(  pretty frustrating!!!!
Wow really? I hear that thing has an abundency of everything! I think thats even where were going bowfishing in a few weeks? Not 100% on that one. Im just tagging along for my first bowfishing trip.

Yes, they have everything in there, just me not catching crap.  The wind was horrible and my spot was bad too.  I have no boat so off the shore it was.  I did see a couple of monster carps floating dead, so I know there is big ones in there, good luck on your bow fishing adventure, this should be fun.  I want to try it one of these days I'm hiring carpsniper to take me out, lol

Fish weren't biting, but any time on a lake is better than a day at the office.

True, I've wanted to pick up one of those pontoons. They look fun. And easy to transport. Think a trolling motor would fit on the back of that thing? :chuckle:
I picked up the pontoon boat off Craigslist last winter for $150. I'm fighting one leak in the left bladder but I can get 5hrs on the water the way it is. The rack has a motor plate but I don't have an electric yet. I've rigged up a pole holder so I can row/troll at a relaxing speed. As light as they are these things are great in calm water but winds up to 20mph make for difficult manuverability. There were whitecaps on Silver Lake (Whatcom) on Sunday morning. Made for a tough trip across the lake to find a calm cove. Great excersize though. Working on the pecks!

Weve got a nice marine battery and a brand new kota trolling moter. It gets our all aluminum 17 foot canoe cruising at a decent speed for travel. I imagine it would work great for one of those pontoons. I was gonna pick one up yesterday for $100 but people were saying not to.
