If you're shooting instinctive (no sights), it takes a lot of practice WITH instruction to become proficient, especially during the moment of taking a shot in a hunting situation. At this stage, with only a few months to go, you're effective range will be within 15 yards. Getting that close to a bear is going to be your first challenge. You'll have fun trying, so go for it. Spend the next year on your improving your traditional archery skills. I too practice year around -  it's a perishable skill.

@blacktail  I started with compound and was starting to group at ablit 50yds but i wanted to go trad. I like it a lot so far and feel better about cause it is what i originally wanted to do.

@ken1010 i might be holding off on any bowhunting this season. At least until my confidence level is up.but time will tell on that one i guess. Trad so far feels more natural and i love it. I just need to get a glove. Its hard on your fingers lol i just need to practice, practice, and practice and i will get out there and start flinging arrows at some creatures in no time

You just need to start gettin after it dude. Its not rocket science. I shoot using those rubber finger tabs that slide over the bow  line. Using a tab is ok but its easy to lose while afield. Gloves are awkward and also loseable. The most important thing is shooting style. You must keep your bow hand rock steady. Nock the arrow, take a deep breath while drawing back, hold it, bring the nock to your lips, look straight down the shaft at the target, then release with bow hand rock solid. Let us know.how that works.

I will have to try that. I will have to wait for the finger protection for now until i have a chance to get one. Even coming up with 10 extra bucks is hard right now ha

people who shoot tradition have many different ways of shooting... some people look directly down the arrow and others have the arrow at there chin kind of coming from an above the arrow look... so its basically what u feel more comfortable with... and dont use a glove try the fingertip releases...
