Trout Pontoon Boat, Should I?
« on: May 06, 2013, 04:55:59 PM »
I found a gentlemen selling this pontoon boat for $100
Should I snag it before someone else does? Who has experience with these style boats and how easy are they to repair?
Just incase I run into a problem. Would it still be a good deal at $100?
He says its in 8 out of 10 condition. It looks pretty decent in the pictures besides one of the fish nets with the madison name on it on the right is tied instead of bungied. No big deal. Easy fix for me.
Could I take this thing out on the sound? :chuckle:

I have two and I love them... that one is exceptionally cheap... That Seat is very uncomfortable.   If you are handy and want a project, maybe but I'd pass on that one.

Tons of fun. Repairs are easy. Sound?? Maybe.  I'd do it and stay close to shore depending on where. Lots of fun in The rivers and great on lakes.

I can modify the seat, not a big deal. Its already has an addon to place a trolling motor and battery.
We just dont have a truck at the moment to haul our 17 foot canoe or our 14 foot flat bottom john boat. So I figure this will be a great alternative for if I want to get out on some water while the lady is at work.

What makes them "cheaper" besides the price? Anything I can modify/fix myself?

Mostly the frame and the oars (replaceable) too much weight (battery, trolling motor, gear) and theyddon't ride very well. I'd pass... :twocents:

Its hard to go to far wrong on one for $100. If you didn't like it you could get your money back pretty easily. Don't know about the sound though. Good for lakes, and rivers that are not very wild.  Wear a life jacket. The first time I took mine out I didn't have the pontoons inflated enough and when I took a big stroke with the oars the pontoons folded at the back of the frame and dumped me in the water, so make sure they are fully inflated.

Smossy,

I have one and it's great fun. It does the job - gets you on the water to fish!

Pick it up for that price. I need someone to go fishing with me.

I just bought an electric motor for mine but now I see a lot of lakes are saying "no motors".  :bash:

Let me know if you grab it.

Carl
