My wifes first turkey
« on: May 08, 2013, 02:35:45 PM »
http://s410.photobucket.com/user/carvermoe45/media/IMG_0076.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3My wife bought me a turkey hunt for my birthday.I told her I would only do it if she went also.[she has the turkey bug]We went with cascade outfitters out of Omak.Opening morning was snowy so we did some scouting.Later the sun came out and we put 3 hens to bed while in the blind.Excited for the next day,we were in the blind at 5:30.6:30 the hens show up and leave, but the tom's were not responding.8:30 the guide leaves to try and locate some birds. At 10:00 we hear his truck coming to pick us up.I thought I would try one more call.Yep,gobble gobble. With a quick text to hold back,we got ready.Call ,gobble closer, call gobble real close. With a couple of soft clucks up pops his head.He sees the decoy"s and comes over the edge and struts around.I whisper to my wife, shoot,no you shoot,no you shoot.I hear her safety click and boom, her first bird down.We both were very elated. What a great birthday present to see that smile on her face.Although I didn't get a bird in those 3 day's,my story is next. Thanks Richard

  Nice ... congrats !  My wife's idea of roughin' it is staying at a 3 star motel and eating at Burger King ... she doesn't do cold, wet, or bugs.  But that's okay she doesn't mind me going .... wahoo .....
