I'm almost positive it's against the law in Puget Sound nowadays but not sure about the Coast. Just didn't want anyone to get busted.

oh okay my bad. Yeah there are a few rules out in westport but thats it.  I use them for a few diff types of fish. It needs to warm up a bit before I would start using piling worms. They might work now but I like to use sand shrimp.

one time a guy was freaking out that i was using them and im not sure if he said they bite or pinch you but he was sure I shouldnt be messing with them.

one time I helped a 8 year old catch his first fish with a piling worm.

I like to use clam necks for sole out there. It works well.

If you want surf perch use clam necks and a good casting rod, 2-4 oz. of lead and fish right off of the beach, right after low tide was always the best for me. Wade out as far as you dare and cast. If you want rock fish (sea bass and ling cod) use leadheaded jigs and cast off of the jetty. If nothing happens with the jigs then switch to smaller hooks and a couple of splitshot, half a sandshrimp, cast short, just past the rocks and let sink to bottom. You will catch an assortment of smaller rock fish. Good luck!!!

Welp no fishing for me today boys and girls. The rain wasnt gonna stop me but not being able to find sandshrimp sure did. Checked a few places, including the hungry whale. Notta. Guess its time to head home. Thanks for all the advice though.

Not sure where that is. But I checked every gas station within like 10 miles of westport. Either they didnt sell sandshrimp or they were out. The hungry whale was even sold out.

No need to buy them if your in Westport, that's where they come from. Take a clam gun behind the coastguard station on the bottom half of the tide. Pull a tube full of sand and quickly put your hand in the hole and scoop out your shrimp, usually 1-6 shrimp per pull. Does not take long to get your bait!!! That's where the commercial pumpers go.

What really? Wheres the coast guard station? We seen the fire department, the coast guard HOUSE, with the big bell out front. The beaches out there? and where, Just randomly pull clam guns full of sand? No tells for the shrimp or are there little holes where they reside? MY bad for all the questions, just would make things alittle easier next time. We came home but I would love to make it back out there to do some fishing.

The sandy beach in the little cove by the tower at Westhaven Park is where we use to get shrimp.  Look for tiny holes in the sand.
