3d deer target?
« on: May 12, 2013, 09:08:25 AM »
I'm looking to buy a 3d target, I've looked at the delta McKenzie pinnacle series targets on line but I've never shot one. I did a 3d shoot at Custer last weekend and they had Rinehart targets, they seemed really nice but are very expensive. Wondering if any of you have experience with both of these targets and can you use broadheads with these. I haven't read good things about the glendel buck.

If you're shooting broadhead s you should get the glendel buck.

check reviews of the glendel when shooting from elevated or other than straight broadside.  there is reputed to be a metal bar in the belly  :dunno:

Glen del full rut. That's what I shoot at least. Arrows can be tougher to pull with a fast bow at times but it sure stops them. I don't know of the bar in the belly but there is something hard in the top of the front leg that's for sure  :chuckle:

Rinehart broadhead buck.
Holds up much better than the Glen del or Delta targets we've had.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

First, Thanks for coming out to our 3D shoot in Custer!

On your question...
Rhinehart is the best you can get, most durable and well built- no metal belly bar. The inserts are replaceable as well. The thing I would consider is just how much will you be shooting the target? A few dozen shots with Broad heads just before hunting season each year and that Glen Del will last you a long long time. If you are shooting a lot with Broad heads then a cheaper target is sure to disappoint. We went to all Rhinehart at Custer because the Mackenzie's and others just simply don't hold up to the many many shots our archers pound into them and that is just with field points- Broad heads will destroy any target much faster.  You might consider a less expensive 3D target for field point practice and get a Rhinehart Broad head Block target to tune in for hunting season.
Hope this helps!
