Multi Season Deer Permit

This was my first year applying for Multi Season permits. I did not get drawn for elk, but I did draw a deer permit. I really did not care about deer in the first place, but I figured I would throw my name in the hat and see what happens. After looking at the cost of the permit I was not going to buy it.

I just found out that I have to work a conference on opening day of modern firearm deer season. I have never missed opening day, which is a huge bummer. Most the legal bucks are dead by 10am on opening morining, where I hunt. I figure it is tag soup, unless I bounce around to some other GMU's or switch seasons/weapons via Multi Season permit.

So now I am in a dilema of whether or not I should purchase the permit?

Any suggestions on where to go, if I use a Muzzleloader?
I like to hunt the eastside.

You don't have to buy the permit until before the early archery season starts so you have some time unless you are wanting to try and go for the special permits.

Where do you normally hunt for modern opener?

You have until the end of August to buy it. As for where to hunt, I'd just hunt the area you normally hunt, but do it during early muzzleloader season. There isn't much open late season, except blacktails here on the westside. So if you are after a mulie make sure and get it done during the early season.

If I get skunked on the eastside I will hunt the westside. I have shot a few blacktails. I like to hunt all over the state and try out different GMU's. Any good eastside Muzzy general season hunts? I don't think the area I usually hunt offers a general Muzzy season. I will check...

Yes to a Muzzy, but I have never fired one before. My father got it as a retirement gift in 1993. He put it together, never fired it, and gave it too me. I just took a look at it, to check and see who made it. It does not have a brand name on it. It was a kit, where you finish the wood stock yourself, and put it together yourself etc. I was going to take it down to the Muzzy experts on river road in Puyallup. I figure he can line me up with what I need and I will go start shooting the thing.

I think that is your best bet. You might end up enjoying the muzzy season and not looking back. You can always do general rifle if you don't get one with your muzzy, it just wouldn't be on opening weekend.

Get the tag, take up either ML or Archery, hunt the same places and forget about pumpkin patches of the future. Those legal deer you spoke of that are all gone by opening day?....well guess what...there are ever more of those prior to the circus.

I checked the unit I normally hunt and there is NOT a muzzy season. The closest open GMU's are Lick Creek and Prescott. I have spent a minimal amount of time there. At this point, it looks like I need to pick a GMU or two and focus on learning them.

Any suggestions around North Central Eastern Wa.?

I worry about the wolves trying to hunt me up there, so I plan on buying a pistol this weekend. I have named it "Wolf Exit Strategy".

Is Prescott posted city? I thought I heard it is pretty hard to get permission, so don't waste points in that GMU. I could be wrong thou...

What GMU is Republic in?
