distance with 45#

Ok my daughter is shooting solid at fifty yards daily with a 45 pound draw wieght but only getting about ten inch of penetration on block. We shoot 100 grain slick tricks. Am I thinking straight not allowing her to shoot past thirty yards on deer or is that enough at fifty.

Just my personal opinion here. I am no means an expert, but yeah I think 30 yards would be max. Not that 45lb couldn't kill farther out, but the whole "buck fever" on a first shot on an animal would likely make anything beyond that a very tough shot.

Keep it close. She'll probably feel bad if she sticks one at 50 and can't find it.

That's what I was thinking unless she can get weight up to around 55# without straining but I think ikl keep her close this year. First year with a bow but man she can shoot

My gf is shooting a 50# bow and I am going to keep her at 40 yards or under.

I will also add that shooting an animal is obviously a lot tougher than a target. And only you and your daughter know what she is capable of. If you teach her the proper ethics and respect for the animal she won't take a shot she's not comfortable with anyway. Good luck to you. I can't wait till my son can start hunting with a bow. He is just starting to shoot one.

I think that this is a decision that only you and your daughter cam make.

I would suggest her only take shots that she is100% confident she can make. I would hate to see her quit because the first shot she took at an animal she wounded it and never recoveeed it.

My personal emphasis in bow hunting has always been to get as close as possible - that's what attracts me most to it. Maybe that's why my successes are years apart with elk. But the satisfaction of doing a great stalk and closing the deal within 30 yards or less is the ultimate hunting experience for me.

honistly it's enough bow . if she can stick it in a coffee cup at fiffty it will do the trick , the problem is what if its 47 or 53 yards then  it's a bad hit . I'd say notch her belt under 30  to start .
