You have to purchase a tag before you can put in for any permit.
Archery tag - you can put in for only archery permits
Muzzleloader tag - you can put in for only muzzleloader permits
Modern - only moderm permits
Multiseason - you can put in for any of the weapons permits.
But a tag must be purchased before any special permits besides OIL permits.
I think thats how it works....

Yes, and that's the way it's always been too.

So is the rule like it is with choosing your hunting method (Mod fire, archery, muzzle). Once you apply for special permits you can't change your method or can you still turn in your mod fire tag for a multi season after the draw. That was my understanding :dunno:

you can only put in for special permit applications for weapon choices you have purchased.

If you have purchased the multi season tag, you can put in for multiple season special permit apps.

If you have been selected for multi season but have only purchased a modern firearm tag, you can only put in for modern firearm special permit apps.

That's my understanding

If you:

1.  were selected for multi season
2.  purchased only a modern tag
You'd only be able to put in for modern special permits.

If after the special permit drawing you wish to purchase the multi season tag, you can but, you will have missed out on the ability to put in for archery and muzzy special permits.

again.  Not 100% but it's the way I understand it

Elk has the added eastside/westside thing too so I'm not sure how that's handled if you are selected for multi season but don't purchase the multi season tag before applying for permits.

:yeah:Exactly. I drew the multi deer like everyone else who applied and I wont buy it until after the drawings. Save me money if I do draw a special permit because I certainly wont hunt other than my special permit. I'm sure some year they will catch on with the money they are loosing and make it mandatory to purchase or not let you buy it after the deadline.

You can turn your regular tag in for a multiseason permit after you don't draw. You do have to purchase it for $180.00. You can not just change your tag for another weapon choice once you've applied for permits.

Same exact thing I do! Worked out last year too, didn't purchase multi-season deer because I drew my special permit.

Here is the bummer about the multi season tags  In my mind you should be able to put in for each side both east and west with choice of weapons for a total of 12 chances to draw a quality bull tag.
