Need more alkali help!
« on: August 12, 2007, 11:47:45 AM »
If you cant tell i am getting jittery for a late hunt that is still three months away! but they say the early bird gets the worm!. i have been online at monstermuley and on here and have been studying maps. i tried to access the outdoor recreation page for the YTC but i could not. Is this just my computer or is everyone having this problem? Last but not least can anyone start me in a direction for a specific area to focus on? northeast? northwest? ect. and why these areas are better than others? thanks for all the help and i will keep you guys updated on my scouting adventures.

First off nothing is on line this year. If you haven't got your "Outdoor Recreation Card" yet you will have to call and find out when the gym will be open and go take the half hour video. They will also give you the rules packet at that time and a map of the whole YTC. (509) 577-3236 is the number for the Operations center which is where you have to check in every day you hunt. It is also where you call the day before you want to hunt to see what area's will be open. No more on line forcast that shows what is coming up two weeks in advance like last year. I hunted for cow elk on Aug 1st in area 1. We saw quite a few deer but no big bucks. (we did see 2 bull elk) I have the last two years harvest reports here some place. I will look for them and see if i can get them to you somehow. (these are not on line anymore either) The bottom line thou is that it looks like the nice deer have come from every part of the YTC. Good luck and I will take notes and post them when i get back out for cow elk.

wannahunt, just wanted to check in and see if you had the past two years results available. that would be of great help. went for a little drive this weekend and saw a couple of guys taking a moderate bull out of the fields to the south of the center down by hanford. well let me know if you can help. thanks.... we are getting closer.

OK FIREGUY459 here are the numbers for 2006. there doesn't seem to be any one good unit when it comes to finding nice bucks. Good luck to ya. I hope to get back out there to look for a cow elk again over the holiday weekend so I'll take a camera in case I see any nice bucks.
