2008 Season, tagged out....
« on: October 09, 2008, 03:04:39 PM »
Well the season is now over, guess I can focus on some fishing and duck hunting.  Sucks really.  I love hunting big game...

Here's my Archery opener 5x5

Then my Muzzleloader 4x4 with eye guards...

Plus a couple of the other guys in camp had some success too.  A nice 3x3 then a big 3x3 with eyeguards that was shot opening day and found 3 days later.  Long story short we looked for 6 hours the day it was shot and couldn't find the deer, 3 days later the ravens took us to him..  Sickening really....  We managed to go 5 for 8 with another 2x2 and 2x3 in camp...

Nice deer, but only 6 hrs looking?  Maybe there's a reason for not looking the following day?  Or did you guys?  Not trying to be judgemental, sorry.

In all due respect, I didn't want to write a book about the entire hunt.  Yes, we were in there the following morning looking for him for an additional 1/2 day.  I knew he was dead in the area as there were 2 ravens working the area but wouldn't give us any specific direction.  I shot my buck the 3rd day looking for his day about 1/3 of a mile from where we found his.....  When we found his it was a complete 180 from the direction he had last seen it running and .23 miles from the original spot he took the shot on the GPS.

I'm just bummed...  I really want to be in the woods hunting but could care less about a black bear....  I guess it's ducks from here out or going out with the buddies..
