Go pro for bear calling?

Been thinking about getting a go pro for bear calling, as it is difficult for me to film with my pocket camera and call/shoot at the same time...however, with a go pro, using a head mount, I think I could get some cool shots...

anyone use one for hunting?

I had a bear two years ago at three steps, but didnt get it on film....still kicking myself for that one....

I plan to with my bow. I am going to experiment with the head mount as well as work something up for an arm mount. In my thread on the GoPro trolling housing I posted a link to a performance shop in Kirkland. They were selling the "Black" edition for $398.00 including tax, out the door. It comes with the wifi remote which I think will be key. You can hit the record button hands free which may save you motion to not spook the animal or save you those extra seconds to draw or fire. Also, with the water proof housing you could easily mount it to small tree branch and begin recording via wifi.

If you want sound pick up the skeletal case and an external mic. It makes all the difference in the world. should work fine though. Im even thinking of modifying one of my waterproof cases for my gopro to paint camo, and drill a hole in the side and place a small rubber gromet in it for where the mic goes. So i have my waterproof case for rain. And can still have external sound.

Had one until this last summer when it went flyin off my head as my son was hawlin my a$$ around Alder lake behind a ski boat on an inner tube type thing. Jump the wake and that was my 300.00 donation to the bottom of the lake camera fund..Ouch!

One of the things i didn't like about mine when i took it hunting is the inability to zoom in on anything..Being a modern rifle guy most of my shots could be fairly long and a deer at 200 yards did not look that cool..
But for bow hunting the good season's and getting up close and personal it would be great. Definitely get the remote!!

Keep in mind you need a pretty robust computer to play the high definition stuff and a good software app if you wanna make the stuff like ya see on t.v....Slowing down frame rates and all that, if that's what ya wanna do. But picture qualities are great!

Protune and spot metering. The camera has the potential you just need to know how to use it

I've used my GoPro with a few different mounting fixtures to capture duck and goose hunting.  The only real complaint I have about it is the inability to zoom.

you could try mounting it to your belt rite at your hip if your an archer. with the sideways stance you use to shoot a bow it works surprisingly well. my hunting buddy and I spent hours of tryin to head mount arm mount and so on with his, turned out its an easy mount to the belt and would get a good pic or video nearly every time. ill admit it takes a few tries to find the sweet spot though depending on your stance.
