I'm catching my first Ling  and sturgeon in the same day :IBCOOL:
Oh.  I see i am remiss in allowing our expectations to have gotten a bit higher than they should be.  Im usually the master at setting low expectations - that way nobody is really disappointed.  You, my boss, the ladies...
So let's plan on calling the day a success when we catch our dabs for bait. Even if we dont get you a ling, we can make up a flounder bomb and go "help out" H20 and Ripper where they're not fishing for sturg.

It'll be a fun day no matter what. The only thing I'm worried about is the wind. 8mph out the NNW. Wind never is good for sturgeon fishing. Any fishing for that matter!.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I'm looking at a different report, or a different area.  For Everett, I've got a predicted 8-11 NNW until about noon, where it rolls around to NNE and drops to 6mph at 1.

It will be a little lumpy out there on the drift, but we'll tough that out to tangle with the toothy ones.  I know that anchoring up for sturg in the wind can be tricky, though, especially when the flood tide and wind are running against each other.  Gonna give it a shot, though!

D-Rock, I thought and you and H20 were heading east to scout elk this weekend?  Change your mind...

That got bumped to the 22nd......family plans got in the way...looking forward to seeing the area, getting some boots on the ground, and spending time scouting instead of hunting. With one tag punched relaxed scouting sounds pretty darn good.

I understand the relaxed scouting part.  Have a similar issue.  You saw a pic of what I added to my deep freeze earlier in the year.  No shortages of protein here.  I'll still hunt hard this fall though for a bull...

Relax scouting :bash:.  I'm putting you guys on the marathon hike right from the start.  We are dropping all the way to the bottom and coming out the other side.  It will take most of the day.

Defenitely......

I'v been spoiled with a gate key...hike? Give me a few extra Aleve, the promise of a cold beer later on with a s'more chaser and I'm good to go. I may be a little slower than the little guys but I'll get there.

You guys have no idea how to scout.  I'll show you.

1) Find an open area
2) Bring your half rack
3) Sit at open area and consume half rack
4) Take a nap
5) Come back to campfire, tell stories of huge herds of animals and probably a moose or grizz sighting
6) Eat, Sleep, Wakeup and Repeat

You'll see, I'm great at scouting.

Skillet I'm bringing you a couple packs of elk steaks Saturday.  I'll keep them frozen and on ice.
