This photo was taken about 10 feet in front of my ground blind. Too bad she did not show up later in the day during deer season. She would have been fun with the bow.

One of the scariest moments of my life was when I arrowed a cougar from my treestand. I almost didn't do it because I figured that if I missed or, even worse, made a bad shot that it would climb up the tree and join me.

From what the archery people tell me about cougar is that they don't retaliate like a bear or African cat. Once hit they high tail it out of Dodge like a deer. If you've done good arrow placement you'll find them bled out down the trail. I don't have any personal experience with this though, but would love to hunt a cougar with my Thunderbird.

My cougar went 30 yards, did a couple of brodies and crashed. It took me over an hour or watching it before I climbed out of my treestand to get it.

My wife's couger went about 75 yards. She heard it screaming at 6 in the evening and called it to her and shot it at 5 yards.1 arrow took it down ... 6'2+ female. 08
