I got a lake close to my house loaded with kokanee, its not a very big lake but has a 2 deep holes 50' and 67'+. I used to fish it all the time and would usually limit out within 2 hrs using a custom homemade setup based off an old setup my dad used years and years ago. I'll put up some pics of my handmade setup in a min. Deeper was always better and I ran an 18' leader with just half a fat earthworm on a #1 offset eagle claw.

Snoco, you need to set some crawdad traps out there.  I know they're in there.

Some big ones in the lake. I've set traps just off the dock for kicks and giggles. We've taken them home and boiled them up. Tasty.

Ran into "team live action" at the launch this morning. Hope you guys did good, i scratched out 4 and left at around 10:30 to go tie up the boat.

Stang, i don't own any crawdad traps. I'm sure someone could make them. They probably hang out around the shores and creek entrances

Or around that big rock pile with all the marker buoys around it!  :dunno:

If you want to give it a go I've got a couple traps you can borrow. An overnight soak with a koke head should yield good results.

Extremely easy and cheap to make man. Just buy some 1/2 or 3/8 "inch chicken wire, zipties/wire ties, And follow some simple little designs they have online. I made mine last year in an hour.

Is there a general preference for which of the three options for the biodegradable devices to use on the traps?

Anyone fish the derby today?  It looked well attended but I couldn't tell if anyone was catching anything.

It was a pretty good turnout. Quite a few fish caught. It wasn't red hot but decent. The fish are running a bit bigger than they have the last couple of years. Lots of fish over a pound. My boat lost a bunch of fish but landed 19 out of a possible 30. My son had a bonus catch of a 2.2lb rainbow and a 12" cutthroat. It was a good time.

"Snoco"  it was good to meet ya out there. Dad and I got 6 and went in around 11am.
Derby day we landed 16, biggest fish for us was 1.2lb. I weighed in a 1.1, but after we got home I realized I had one in the box that was a bit bigger :bash:

I had my worst day ever on derby day. Not sure what I was doing wrong. Everything was the same as far as I could tell. Same setup a I've been using.
