If so I want the website or phone number. If they don't have a good enough answer as to what policy they have in writing that tells their employees to take other peoples things without permission in the case of a burn then what they did was a stole that cam regardless of what they say their just trying to cover their butts. :twocents: :dunno:

It's the United States Forest Service. It should be easy enough to find contact info.

Google is your friend.

Here you go just in case.

http://www.fs.fed.us/

I don't want to get blamed for attempting a cover up.

I'd rather it been left the hell alone! Nobody did me any favor taking it down. Now I gotta find away to get it. 2 hr drive! My last trip up I was there to pull it down. If it got burned it gets burned and that's on me, but I highly doubt it woulda been effected with a prescribed burn and where it was.

I'm not the only one who feels the same way over this issue. Many on here have texted me over this issue.

I guess if they left it alone, you could have got a big pile of charcoal back. Instead you're getting your camera back that you probably spent $100+ on. Sorry, but I don't feel sorry for you. You're getting your camera back, it didn't get incinerated, the guys thought they were doing a good deed and you continue to trash on them.  I'll never understand people like you.
 :sry:

Suggestion.   Send them an empty box with return address label and postage.
Lot less expensive then gas.  I'd include a $5 Starbucks card for their trouble.
They thought they were doing the right thing and at least you're getting the camera pack.

Mother always said you catch more flies with honey.

:yeah:

Maybe they were doing what they thought what was a good deed, maybe :dunno: maybe someone thought they scored a cam and planned on keeping it.

 :yeah:

I'd lean towards someone though they scored a free cam and then when they got asked about it they played I didn't want it getting burned up card.  It simple if it's not yours leave it alone. If it got burned up so be it either way the cam owner would be out a cam.  People can say what you will but it that a standard practice of the FS to take public property? If so were is stored and does it get sold at a public auction?

Attitudes like yours are the kind that will eventually lead to a policy that one may not leave trail cams on USFS property so they don't have to deal with people like this.  You are assuming the worst without anything to back it up and trashing away on them.  Very classy.

Say what you will but look at our government right now. You think their honest with the public. Tapping the APs phones and going after reporters for using their first amendment rights. Selling guns to cartels, the list goes on and on. Our government is a bunch of crooks.

In case you forgot USFS property is our land we pay for it with tax payer dollars. They work for us. Since when is it okay to take someone else's property? Maybe we can give them the benefit of the doubt but look at this article it happens all the time.

When it's about to get incinerated, I'd consider it a favor and appreciate it. I guess I just wouldn't assume they stole it. Too bad these guys got trashed on here with their pictures being posted without knowing one way or the other.

Or is that ok too?

And there are crooked thieves within the private sector too.  What's your point?  That there are crooked people within all walks of life?  Thank you Captain Obvious.

I have absolutely no affiliation with the Forest Service, but I've known some very outstanding employees that have worked for them.  Folks who went out of their way to help others on a routine basis.  I am willing to give these guys the benefit of the doubt that they didn't want to melt his trailcam.

Maybe the USFS will read your post and assume that all private citizens are paranoid and willing to trash anyone with no evidence?

The responses to this astound me and I have no doubt why Obama is in office. Camera would HAVE NOT been charcoal where it was.. In case u have never witnessed a prescribed burn educate yourself ! Also I would of not cared that if the area was burned and cam was left up! That's something I contend with and no different with bears ruining cams oh well.

PLEASE show me where I trashed anyone other than posting pics of who I THOUGHT / HIGHLY LIKELY responsible for my camera going missing .. And guess what I was right ! I will post pics of anyone or anything I DAMN well please if it's on my cam!

I just got off the phone with the coordinator of the area.. They are NOT going to burn it now..hmm... He was extremely apologetic for it and was going to take it back , someone within crew took it down. He was willing to do anything to get it back to me without hassling me.. From just mailing it to leaving it for me at a desired location.

Plain and simple don't touch it!!!

Well this classification of people based on which side of the state they live is something I am not a fan of. Who took your camera? Not a westsider. Isn't that the person you're angry with?

I'm with huntnnw. The cam should have been left... if he didn't have another cam there how would he know who to try and contact. Its not yours you leave it alone period. Especially on public land. Like he said, he was going to retrieve it that day and it wasn't burned up... if it was burned up and he found it melted to the tree ar least he would know that nobody stole it.
