I intend to use my 12ga with rem. Slugs. How far out have any of you shot a bear with a slug? Have u used a scope on ur shotgun and would u recommend it?

Absolutely! 12 ga slugs are deadly. I love hunting with mine. I've shot a bison with it and at least a dozen deer. If you have a rifled barrel and a scope you could kill a bear out to 150 yards or more. I have my Thompson Pro Hunter sighted in at 125 yards. It's deadly accurate with the 28 inch rifled barrel. I like the Winchester Supreme ammo with 385 grain Nosler Partition slugs. It took a while to find what my gun liked to shoot so I would recommend spending a lot of time at the range figuring out what your gun shoots the best.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

Partitions are sweet, but like ripper said test a few loads to see what works in your gun. I need to go get me a new shotgun. I love shooting slugs.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.
