2000 Focus Issue?

2000 Focus Issue?
The seat belt light comes on when you start the car even if front seat belts are both latched then goes off for 45 seconds. Then the seat belt light comes on and the dinger starts, light and dinger go back off for 45 seconds then both go on and off continuously every 45 seconds.

Is there possibly an easy fix or does this require a dealer visit?

most likely a problem in the drives side seat belt latch. tough to take apart and clean , you should be able to jump the two wires together coming out of the female buckle side at the car harness side and see if the light goes out .

Try to blow out the female side of the latch with some compressed air then squirt a small amount of electrical connection cleaner in it and see if it stops.probably just something inside not letting it send the signal.
