Blade Blanks Available Sale/Build
« on: May 22, 2013, 10:32:11 AM »
Here's a facebook photo album of my current Custom Blade Blanks. It should be open to the public, even non-facebook users. (It said it was, anyway!)

This album does not include any budget steel (contact me for details on that stock), these are ATS34 Stainless or D2 Carbon. High-end custom stock.

All the D2 has a "d" in the description. The rest is stainless. D2 point left, Stainless point right. The ironwood in the background is an accurate inch ruler.

Available for custom build projects, or for you to buy outright. As is, or polished and sharpened. Prices vary, some are large, some are small, prices vary on size.

Hey Rainshadow1, nice looking blanks. Quick question, pro/con ATS34 and D2. I have a home-built knife in D2, very impressed with the edge holding quality. Hey, good news, my foot stays in place. Hyperbaric chamber, wound vac system, 4 rounds of antibiotics. Still treating the wound 3 times a week, should be closed up mid-june, glad to put that behind us. Tight lines,ff :hello:

Hang in there, FF!

D2 is a tool steel, very close to a high speed tool steel, but plenty tough for the knife application. Very stain resistent for a carbon. It's one of the best carbon steels. Plain and simple. Not a stainless, so it needs care, but aside from that it's hard to fault.

ATS34 is a high carbon stainless, same as 154cm. Excellent stainless, but not stain free. Performs close to high carbon, with the low maintenance of stainless. One of the best general purose knife stainlesses.

Both are top drawer knife steels. The 'best' is debatable, but these two are right up there for general purpose.
