Eureka solitaire tent
« on: May 22, 2013, 01:17:49 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a buddy who is going to sell me a eureka solitaire tent for $30. It's pretty cheap, but I am concerned about the lack of space for my gear. I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs. is there room for my pack gun and boots? Looks like there might be a small vestibule area. Also, do some of you guys bring a rope and a tarp and hang your gear in a tree? Seems like this could be a good idea anyways if there are bears in the area.

Tell me how you would go about this? I don't have much money so it seems like if I can make it work for  3-4 day backcountry hunt, I would like to. Thanks!

There is no room for gear inside of it. It is a good bivy type tent but there is zero -0- room. I sold mine because I didn't fit inside of it. JackofallTrades has one and can provide a little more info. The floor space is a little bigger than the size of your sleeping bag.

Im starting to think maybe the solitaire is not the best option. Im looking now at the wild country zephyros 2, as well as the eureka amari pass 2. Seems like maybe getting a 2 person tent might be a good idea for 1 hunter + gear. Thoughts?

I'm 6'4" 225#. A 2 person is a must for me. I'm using a Sierra Designs vaporlite2. Love it. Wish I got the xl version but oh well. This one saves a little weight. Sierratradingpost.com has some deals on close out tents if you're looking for a deal.
