This is a Springer! 32 pounds. Biggest hatchery fish to date in my boat. My bud Rusty was sitting in the right seat that day.

First off DJ, you have to go to the Columbia or Cow. Then put in about 1000 hours of fishing time.

A 30+ pound springer is a pig of a springer. This is my biggest ever, caught this year. Just over 24lbs. And as was mentioned, lots of time spent on the Cow or Columbia is how you catch them  ;)

Nope. There is tales of Springers in the Halis but its just that, a tale.
There are Springers in the Hoh and Duc. The Hoh fish are wild, Duc fish are hatchery.

However, these fish in the Duc and Hoh are different. While they are Spring run, they dont have the fat content the up river fish have in the Big C. The Cow fish are a strain of Big C fish, so they are very good table fare.

could have been a springer, more likely a summer steelhead or outgoing winter steelhead.

they are in the chehalis, but not many.  a good run of them is only 2000 fish or so, and they mostly head to the upper reaches of the river.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I think 2000 would be a huge return for that run; normally way below that. The ways things have been the past few years, the Cowlitz is lucky to get 2000 springers.
