Finally! All of Washington's grouse species
« on: May 23, 2013, 10:27:00 PM »
Well, last week I finally managed to find some Spruce Grouse, so I've completed a task I set out to do some years ago - to photograph all of Washington's native grouse species - and to photograph them all right here in our state.

Greater Sage-Grouse

Columbian Sharp-tail Grouse

Ruffed Grouse

Spruce Grouse (Franklin's variety)

Blue Grouse, both the Sooty phase and Dusky phase

Beautiful pictures

I think you have more work on your hands. You forgot White-tailed Ptarmigan.

Thanks, everyone,  for the replies & kind words.

Well, I didn't forget about them, I just don't think of them as a grouse because the are not called "grouse" by name.  Someday maybe I will set out to photograph all 3 of North America's Ptarmigan species!

By the way, I have photographed White-tailed Ptarmigan, but so far I have not done so here in WA.  Maybe later this year?  Here is one from Montana last fall - it was starting to turn from brown to white.

SWEET pictures great way to document animal groups in Washington.
