We have 3 coveys running around here with at least 8-12 new chicks in each.  I have a 6' high pile of oak branches in one of my pastures that I was going to burn a couple of months ago but noticed that there were 2 quail pairs sitting on it.  I'm glad that I didn't burn it because that it where a lot of those chicks were hatched.

Yes, this last hatch was definately the birds best best this year.  Little buzzbombs by the dozens running around now.

There are some big hatches in the wenatchee valley. Was out hydroseeding last week and they were all over the place. We probably saw over 100 quail in one smaller sage flat.

Same thing in West Valley.  Less production early on but they are hitting the brush stack and seed pile at the back of our place hard right now.  Brittany and the Setter try and escort them off the property but they just boomerang back twice a day.  Looks good for this year ... finally!

Around here the quail hatch is looking decent. Quite a few coveys with 4-6-8-10 chick about 1/3 adult size. A few covey with 2/3 adult size chicks. Have seen zero pheasant chicks.  Did see some Turkey poults about 2-3 weeks ago.

Yes, but this is the first hatch we have seen this year.  Normally, we are on our second by now.

It looks to be a bad year for birds.

I've been seeing tons of older baby quails and a ton of brand new ones as well.  :dunno:
