Awesome shots!  This bird is quickly becoming my nemisis.  The Yellow Headed Blackbird, close cousin to the Red Wing.. they will even interbreed...

By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

So there I was... backed down the boat launch, putting gear in my pontoon that I'd just offloaded. Then I hear this squak, squak, squak. I did not expect to see this guy. I went back to the truck for the cam. I took several shots of him, and could hear another not far away. He gave me the best opportunity at 30yds.

Looks like  a great opportunity you had there, Steve!  They are quite unique, aren't they?!  That squawking sound is a one-of-a-kind - I can't think of any other bird that makes a sound like that.  Thanks for sharing!

The long drawn out squak reminds me of a Parrot. The sound in that environment caught me off guard.

Great shots.  I've been thinking about getting into the float tube and cozy up to a couple.   They do put on quite a show.

I saw a Redwing this weekend. Didn't have the camera with me though.
