I'm sure you have figured this out but, just in case, you know that once you declare which side of the mountains you will hunt, you're stuck with that side. In other words, if you buy a deer tag for the east side, you cannot hunt the west side. The reason I mention this is because you said you were new to the state and this is an uncommon thing in most other states.

Same thing with archery vs rifle or muzzle loader, once you buy a tag for whichever one you will hunt with, that's all you will be able to hunt with. Another one of those weird things.
