best way to guarantee a bear is a good snooze!!

I have come to believe your subconscious stays in tune with the noises around you while you sleep.  Seems if there is a bear in my berry patch he is the first thing I look at after I wake up.  Even if he is 150-200 yards away.  Up high I like to take a bear perch snooze at about noon.  I'd guess better than half our high country bear are killed at 1:P.M.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

"Nice bear  But where did you find that stabilizer?"

It's an Axion stabilizer and sight. Obviously made for the Z. They do compliment the waffle iron :chuckle:

Riverside Archery helped with those.

SW Washington bear

I didn't notice this bear until he was 70 yards away and he was running right to where I was standing in a clear cut :yike:. Its hard to say if he was coming my way coincidentally or with bad intentions as I was in the wide open. I took my first shot at 40 yards as he was getting around a small tree, hit him in the shoulder but missed bone/vitals and that got him really moving somewhat at a 45 degree angle still  up to the area I was at, missed second shot (with him at full speed), missed third (full speed as well), held my 4th shot until he was more in the open and hit the bulls eye flipping him on his back. Just as I thought it was game over, he popped back onto his feet and took off for another 300 yards into the thick brush (of course).

He looks like he has had a few battles in his time with a missing claw and broken bottom canine tooth.

Yup, very nice bear. Congrats

I was able to accomplish my goal today of filling both bear tags this year, first year doing that! This one was spotted about a mile away by my good buddy Tyler as he was checking out my spotter. We closed the distance to just 188 yards, had to wait for what seemed like forever for a clear shot at the shoulder and finally I was presented a shot and the weatherby punched a hole right through the lungs and top of the heart. 180 grain Barnes ttsx does it again!
