Never seem to get a chance to hunt them these days since the season interferes with archery season.  Shot a ton of them in my youth OR, WA and AZ.  Especially in January out of Bonita, AZ!  The cabbage fields would hold thousands.

I too like eating them as much as shooting them.  One of my favorites is dove stuffed portabella shrooms.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I've never thought of calling them. Really theres no need. mostly it's just hurrying up to reload because there's another flock coming. I've got a few dove decoys but never really need them either. It's just frantic shooting and retrieving until they stop flying. Morning and evening. Then theres a cold night and they disappear.
The first bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

This will be the first season I've been able to get out for Dove up here since I moved up from Texas in September of 2010.

Looking forward to getting out ... my wife has never had Dove ... I'm hoping to be able to educate her a little bit ... but I'm stuck on the West Side for this season so I'll have to hope for the best and see if my scouting pans out!

A couple of us over here on the wet side have been some talk about (and will be) hitting the dry side for opening day.

It would be fun to get some HW members together.  If anyone knows a place where we can get around a field or fields, we can get those buzz bombs moving around more.  Maybe a lunch together and back at it in the afternoon.

That would be a blast and more fun than us all going our own ways.   :IBCOOL:

Anyone in?   :hello:

Carl

I used to hunt them a lot when I was introduced to hunting in college and it was a total blast.

Depending on where your going I'm in.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation. Your character is who you actually are while your reputation is merely who others think you are.

Depending on where your going I'm in.

That, of course, is the $25,000 question!  :chuckle:

I'll probably only get one day to scout and I’m thinking about checking the Yakama Valley area.  Last year, I hunted at Lower Crab Creek (off 26) and scouted/drive to the Tri-Cities.  It was a 2 day trip.  I spent too much time looking and not enough time hunting!  :bash:

I’m open to go ANYWHERE if someone has a place for us to get together.   Can you folks on that side find a place for us to gather?

I’m sure looking forward to it and hope we can get together.

Carl

Oh Boy!
The wheat is down and the birds are in the Yakima Valley. Start scouting, they are flying around 7-8 am and 4-5 pm.  I have started some Eurasian practice and its almost as good as the real deal.
Don't forget to pick up your shells!
