Northern Idaho Moose Adventure
« on: October 12, 2008, 08:41:18 AM »
First off, I want to say congratulations to all of the Washington moose hunters. The caliber of moose being taken shows that Washington's moose hunting rivals that of anywhere in the U.S.

I spent most of last week in Idaho with a friend looking for moose. On the first day we helped another friend get a bull with his bow.

44 wide, palms 6 x 22, 6 pts per side. The best thing about it was that it died close to a road.

After that we called in some bulls for pictures and video. The moose took a big hit over the winter and it was evident. We probably saw half as many moose as usual and no big bulls.

Notice the saliva dripping from his mouth.

This bull didn't want me getting any closer to his cow.

This little guy was keeping his distance from the bigger bull.

Great Job Timber. I agree, not nearly as much action this year, and I didn't get in on any big ones either.  I spent the week in Washington and in Idaho.  I got into moose, but the population is sure down and places where I always see them, it was kind of lean.  Found lots of wolf sign in N Idaho and that might have something to do with it.  Didn't run into any fresh wolf sign in Washington.

Check out these sheds from one of the guys I met over there.
Some of the palms are 15" wide.

Matched set from same bull 2 yrs in a row.
