It is official! Oregon here we come!

So we are officially going to Oregon on a week long archery elk hunt. We are getting packed into the Eagle Cap mountains for the last week of early archery season. It will just be my old man and I at our camp and I can't wait. I am already starting my list of things I need to buy to get ready and will start shooting my bow every day to be ready.

We are doing a supplied drop camp so we are really excited. It will be my dad's first adventure with the stick and string

I'll be in there too, won't be hunting it though. But that is my backyard, well front yard since they're my view. We checked out some trailheads the last couple weekends. Still pretty snowy up there.

I am so excited and the best thing is that I feel no pressure to kill an elk. I am focused on just enjoying the week with my dad and soaking up the whole experience. If we kill an elk it will be a bonus.

My dad keeps texting me after he gets done shooting his bow and every time he ends with "this is so cool".  He is only shooting from 10 yards for now but he says that at 10 yards he is hitting about the size of a half dollar with all his shots so I think he is well on his way. He is also hiking every day that he is in not traveling for work. He is very motivated and that makes me really happy because he is 59 years old and I want to soak in every chance I can to hunt with him. You never know what tomorrow might bring.

Good luck on the hunt! The eagle caps have to be some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever hunted, we are heading over their this year rifle deer hunting. Saw some dandy bulls over there in 2011 on our deer hunt.
