I went through this earlier this summer.  finally settled on Danner "full curl"  and I love them!

They feel a lot like my Rocky pro hunters (1999 old style, still made in the USA) did when I first got them.   NO BREAK IN TIME!  Lots of supports and very comfortable.

Danner Santiams for late season or wet cold weather and Danner 453 GTX for early season. They are pricey but they last me for years with minimal maintenance.

I love my Schnee's pack boot for wet weather or snow.  They are expensive but having dry feet and being comfortable is worth it IMO.

Well I can say I am impressed with the Kennetrek mountains, I used Meindl for several years and Danners before that. The think I like about the Kennetrek is they use better thread on their stiching. Not that cheap cotton stuff. I had to take my meindls to a boot repair place to have them restiched and that made the gotex start leaking. I guess you get what you pay for. My :twocents:

Funny thing. I love Rockies and danners. One year my Rockies went out on me I had them for about 5 years. Well I was out on a hunt I drove into a small town and needed some boots that were waterproof quick. I picked up a pair of Carhart boots. I do not know what kind as they do not say on the boot. Well as it turned out this is the best rain/swamp/hill westside boot I have ever bought!!!! I have used them for 4 years and boy have they held up. I was pleasantly surprised. Never ever wet they breath great I have nothing but good things to say about them.  :twocents:

I Bought a pair of LaCrosse hunting boots this year...I have owned all other boots and I have to tell ya!  These are the best boots I have ever had.  I walked 5 miles in 1 ft of snow yesterday and not even a moist sock or a cold foot....Awsome boots!!
The wife said if I go hunting 1 more time, she's going 2 leave me!!  Gosh I'm gonna miss her.

I love my Redwings. You couldn't give me a pair of Danners after my first and only pair. They hurt my feet so bad I could hardly walk for the the first two months. "Okay" after that, but I'm not down with 8 week break-in time. Redwings were money for me right out of the box.

I have always purchased Danners, they have worked well for me.   I would love a pair of Schnees, but just dont have the $ at the moment.

Now for anyone buying Danners, be informed you might find a good deal on a pair. But be forewarned if it doesnt have the US flag stitched into the uppers you are getting a pair made in China !
Recently Danner has taken there low end boots overseas.  Yes this pisses me off because even their low end boots used to be good... now are crap.  The soles on them are no longer stiched, but glued !  POS.

I had one pair of Danners several years ago and blew them out in less than 6 months. I've run in Red Wings and they held their own, but the best I had were John Deere's I got at the Deere dealer years ago.

I have a set of Danners and they are very comfortable, however, they leak already and I just bought them before this season. I'm not sure if they were US or China made. I will have to check.

Danner Canadians, I have a pair 6 yrs old and still are my "go to boots". Also bought a pair of Cordora Danner's at SW for early fall hunting. Don't care for them that much 2yrs old and not waterproof anymore.

I've got a pair of Danner Frontiers that I purchased at Cabela's on Sept. 19, '08. They are already coming apart at the seam where the body of the boot is attached to the sole. These will be going back to Cabela's, I will be requesting a gift card for the purchase price of $190, I'll sell that card to someone for $175, and I'm going to buy a pair of Lowa Sheep Hunters or Kenetreks.

I don't want them replaced, I want a pair of boots that won't come apart after 3 months use. That's like my Burris scope that has been fixed twice. It's great that they'll fix it for free, but what I'd really like is a quality product that doesn't need to be fixed.

I bought a pair of Danner "Elk Hunters" from Cabelas and they are the most uncomfortable boot I have ever had. I have a wide foot to begin with so I ordered 4E width and they still fit like a womans dress shoe. They feel like they are on the wrong feet most of the time. *censored* if I hadn't paid $250 for them I'd have given them away already. I'll take them back to cabelas and try on something different....now where did I put my good socks at...?

They have to be of good quality, fit my feet well and that is about it. I don't give a darn who makes them as long as they fit the two criteria above.

I am very happy with My Cabela's Danner Elk Hunters.  I also have a pair of Hoffman Pac Boots that I rarely get to use, because I haven't been hunting in deep snow for the last couple of years.

I have been eyeballing the Kennetreks for a little while and will likely try those on the next go around.  Looking for something lighter.

I like my Elk Hunters a lot. I've been using the same pair for a dozen years or better. I've had to re-seal the stitching a couple of times, and with only 400 grams of thinsulate they aren't good for stand hunting in the dead of winter, but they are a really good all around boot.

I'll weigh in on the Great Danner Debate:

In 1995 when I was an Army Ranger I was issued a pair of Danners.  They took forever to break in, and when they did, they developed a "fold" somewhere in the heel that caused quite a bit of discomfort.  THey had taken so long to break in, I didn't turn them in for new ones for fear of having to go through that horrifying break in process again.  As a consequence, I only wore them when I REALLY needed to wear an insulated boot.  I still have them, but never wear them as I now have a nice insulated pair of Bellvilles for my cold-weather military boots (love the Bellvilles).  I only base my opinion on Danner on this one pair of boots, so it may not be fair, but I would never spend my own money on them.  THey had an American Flag sewn into them too.

My boots right now are a pair of Irish Setters that I bought on sale 2 years ago.  THey were less than $100, and I bought them because they were a deal, and my Wolverine Durashocks were worn out (another boot I will never buy again) and I needed a boot for elk season.  I am rough on boots, and frankly didn't expect them to last more than a year or two.  The boots are well into their 3rd year and showing no signs of wearing out yet.  I am very impressed.

THat being said, I have to check out Kennetrek have heard a lot of great things about them.

I have a couple pair of danners. Mountain lite's and GTX's they are alright, but not great. The GTX's squeek so bad when I walk I think the elk can hear it. I bought a pair of kenetrek mountain extreme 400's last year and no complaints so far. I really like the stiff ski boot like support.
