I found this series of YouTube reviews on various brands of elk call diaphragms.  You might find these helpful.  (For the record, I am frustrated with diaphragms, and I have been looking for some practical instruction.  These videos were somewhat helpful, but they are not perfect.  If they help you, then so much better.)
