2 part question
« on: June 10, 2013, 12:18:00 PM »
I'm relatively new to elk hunting and have a couple questions:

1.  Since bear season comes in a few weeks before elk, is it a good idea to sit in the stand I will be elk hunting out of to see if any elk show up?

2.  I looked in the regs for anything about cutting shooting lanes, but only seen about how tree stands can't permanently hurt trees.  Is there any guidance for this somewhere? I will be hunting DNR land.

I don't know the rules per se, however i would imagine that selectively  trimming some branches is ok but cutting down any trees is a no no. :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Basically don't kill or permanently damage any trees, and you should be okay.

As per question #1. IT'S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO SPEND MORE TIME IN THE FIELD!!!
