Unicorn Muley
« on: October 13, 2008, 06:36:01 PM »
Shot this buck today. My brother jumped him but missed two shots as he ran away. He chased the buck and I headed 90 degrees to see if he tried to circle back. After checking the next canyon I figured he had ran to another zip code and stopped for a breather. Stopped for about thirty seconds and he jumped out of some CRP he was bedded in about 100 yards up the hill and stood for the shot. Would'nt of seen him had he stayed still.

When I got to him I noticed his crazy headgear (5X7 with stickers). Palmation on the left antler and also a split brow tine. He also has an eyeguard like point growing out of his forehead below his right antler a little over an inch long. There is actually another small point just below the left antler but to small to pick up on camera. I plan on getting a european mount to show of the strange "Unicorn Buck".

Anyone ever see something like this before. Definitely a Non-Typical!

Seen it before, not all that common.  Very unique deer worthy of a nice shoulder mount.  Congrats!

Cool buck!  Congrats.
I've got a little blacktail that has an extra separate button and point on each side just below main ones.

Brother was bummed but we are headed back out to find another one.

Also I took the orange off before the photo. I was shedding gear getting ready to gut him.

Why is it people always ask about Hunter Orange?  Seems like you are looking to stir up trouble where there is no trouble to be found.  I took my orange off for every photo I've taken except some upland photos.

Took the head to a taxidermist for a european mount. He quoted me five month turn around so it should be ready anytime. I will definitely post a pic when I get it back.

I think because he realized its a ridiculous law.  I've never seen any study or statistics that say there are fewer accidental shootings in a hunting situation because of hunter orange.  Its just another example of how people who don't hunt are making all of the stupid rules!
