2014 High Hunt Planning
« on: June 11, 2013, 03:45:41 PM »
Hey all - looking for some feedback.  The wife and I aren't getting any younger and we've always wanted to do a high country hunt, so we decided no more excuses and are in the early planning stages for the 2014 season.

We'd probably be looking for a drop camp package here in Washington for deer.  I'm of course doing all kinds of research on here and through other resources but thought I'd chime in to see if anybody had any recommendations for an outfitter.  Icicle and Cascade seem to be reputable and they've come up a lot in discussions I've had with others (I see them mentioned a lot on here).

Any others?  We don't really have any specific area set in stone really and are open to suggestions.  Shooting an animal would be cool (be lying if I said it didn't matter), but quality of the overall experience is what's more important to us.  Getting into that high country and spending time just taking it all in is something we've always wanted to do, and we're looking for an outfitter that understands the importance of the experience and hospitality while taking us in to the drop.

If we could find something like that, then harvesting a deer would just be a bonus

Thanks for any feedback anyone may have.

First thing you want to do is decide the area. Outfitters only have permits to take hunters in certain areas i.e. Icicle ALW,GPW, etc. Alot of times you will be asked if you have an area in mind i.e Pasayten the that outfitter can tell you if the have a camp in there. Best to get an area figured out and start finding an outfitter.
